The dangerous and deadly toxic dumps and accident sites are spread throughout the US. In Silicon Valley, workers and community members live on top of superfund sites that have not been properly cleaned up by the EPA and corporations like Apple. Workers have also been retaliated against who report serious toxic hotspots.

The radioactive military dumpsite at Hunters Point and Treasure Island in San Francisco have left thousands of workers and residents with diseases and cancer while condos are being built atop these contaminated sites.

The East Palestine railroad disaster caused by Norfolk Southern rail company has injured residents and workers. The EPA, DOT, OSHA and other  government agencies which should protect the residents and workers have been captured by the very companies that they are supposed to regulate. There are only 1850 OSHA inspectors in the US and even during the deadly pandemic California and the US refused to increase the inspection and enforcement of safety and workers on the job. Panelists will look at these cases and the fight to defend residents and whistleblowers who are fighting for a safe environment and health and safety.

Panelists:
Ashley M. Gjøvik, Apple Senior Engineer Manager, OSHA EPA Whistleblower
Stella Miranda, Wife of AFSCME 3299 Worker at Hunters Point
Dr. Ray Tomkins, Historian, Scientist and Health and Safety Expert
Matthew A. Weaver,  a CNX carpenter with IBT Brotherhood of Maintenance of  Way Employees Division and the elected  legislative director of the BMWD in the state of Ohio. He is also with Railroad Workers United
