SUMMARY:Logistics AI\, Robo Taxi World\, Land Lines & Check Outs
DESCRIPTION:At: ILWU Local 6 –  99 Hegenberger Rd. Oakland \nThe massive investment and speculation around AI and robotics is already having a major effect for workers in California. Following the UPS contract\, over 20\,000 workers were terminated without compensation\, and the company plans to eliminate 100\,000 UPS Teamsters. SUMMARY:From E. Palestine to Hunters Point/Treasure Island
DESCRIPTION:(Zoom event) \nThe man-made railroad derailment in East Palestine\, Ohio has left the residents and workers with serious health conditions\, the loss of their healthcare and no compensation to move out of their homes which have been contaminated with vinyl chloride. Railroad workers were also contaminated along with EPA workers\, and the government is still allowing Norfolk Southern bosses and other railroads to have almost daily derailments threatening communities and railroad workers throughout the country. \nAt the same time\, residents of Hunters Point Shipyard and Treasure Island in San Francisco have discovered that they have radioactive isotopes in their bodies and workers at UCSF Animal Center have been sickened by the radioactive dump site. They are continuing to fight for healthcare and compensation for all the residents and workers and a criminal cover-up of this radioactive and toxic waste dump that continues to poison and harm people. \nThis community labor forum will look at the role of EPA\, OSHA\, DPH in San Francisco and the State Of California\, East Palestine and other toxic sites. \nSpeakers:\nChris Albright – East Palestine\, Ohio resident and LIUNA 1058 member\nJami Rae Wallace – Unity Council For East Palestine Train Derailment\, former member SEIU 1199 Executive Board Cleveland\, Ohio\nDr. Ahimsa Sumchai – Founder of Hunters Point Community Biomonitoring Program & advocate for community\nDr. Ray Tomkins – Research scientist and investigator of conditions of Hunters Point\nArieann Harrison – Marie Harrison Community Foundation\nStella Miranda – Wife of injured UCSF Animal Facility in Hunters Point who was contaminated\nCarol Harvey – Investigative reporter San Francisco Bay View on Treasure Island

SUMMARY:Berkeley Radical 60s Walk
DESCRIPTION:10:00 AM Meet at St. Joseph the Worker Church – 1640 Addison Street\, west of McGee Avenue\, Berkeley \nWalk with Harvey Smith\nThe McGee-Spaulding District could be considered a hotbed of Berkeley 1960s radicalism and counterculture given the number of noted activists and alternative living communities located in the neighborhood. This walk will explore the many locations where activists lived and the houses that were home to experimental communes. We will briefly explore the political and social roots of these causes\, the intervening backlash\, and the lasting influence of the counterculture movements of the ‘60s. \nThe route is entirely level and wheelchair accessible.

SUMMARY:14th Annual San Francisco Living Wage Coalition Awards Dinner
DESCRIPTION:At: SEIU Local 1021 hall – 350 Rhode Island\, San Francisco\n(entrance on Kansas Street\, between 16th and 17th Streets)\nStreet parking available\, wheel-chair accessible \nHonorees:\nLabor Woman of the Year award – Kim Evon\, Executive Vice President\, Service Employees International Union Local 1021.  \n \nLabor Man of the Year award – David Williams\, retired member\, Service Employees International Union Local 1021. \n \nThe San Francisco Living Wage Coalition was born out of Labor’s efforts to work with the community in organizing non-union workers. These efforts included using legislative strategies to improve their wages and working conditions\, building a workers’ movement and creating the conditions for unionizing. Our efforts initiated a movement that led to trail-blazing local wage and benefit laws and\, in conjunction with unions\, organizing drives and collective bargaining agreements.  \nThe Living Wage Coalition’s current work are workshops and campaigns to organize workers and educate the community on a Five Point Program to reverse income inequality\, including protecting and expanding union and public sector jobs; ending mass incarceration by the penal system; stopping the repressive immigration system; fixing a broken welfare-to-work system; and replacing free trade with fair trade.  \nTickets – $60 per ticket in advance or a group rate of $400 for eight tickets in advance bought before July 15. $70 per seat at the door. We have special sponsorship levels and congratulations in the printed program if received by July 12.  \n  \nFor more information or to purchase tickets\, contact the San Francisco Living Wage Coalition at 415-863-1225 or sflivingwage@riseup.net or go to https://www.livingwage-sf.org to become a sponsor or buy a ticket.
