The USS Potomac was Franklin Roosevelt’s “Floating White House.” Many important New Dealers and international dignitaries sailed on the Potomac, including Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins.This Zoom presentation by Ford Roosevelt, Executive Director of the Potomac Association, will trace a brief history of the Potomac, Frances Perkins’ role in developing key labor legislation, the role of labor in the Bay Area in restoring the Potomac, and the mission of the association in educating about the long impactful presidency of FDR.
