After promising 1,100 employees that they would protect their jobs, the managers of a French factory decide to suddenly shut down the plant. Laurent, a worker at the factory, takes the lead in a fight against this decision. Such is the simple premise for an explosive film from French director Stéphane Brizé.The Perrin Industry Factory, a well-known automotive supplier, signed an agreement asking senior-managers and workers to accept a pay cut in order to save the company in exchange for the promise to protect their jobs for at least the next five years. Suddenly, the company chooses to close the plant. The 1,100 workers, conducted by their spokesperson Laurent Amadeo, refuse the inevitable and try to save their jobs,This conflict, between workers and the power of money and finance, is shown in all its rudeness. In such a situation, it is indeed a war – with your lives as they are at stake as proclaimed by one of the leaders, an important part may never have the chance to work again. The war is not fought not by soldiers, but by determined workers leading to difficulties to keep a straight line, a united front or even a cool head. It is a film that draws a ferocious portrait of social conflict in a modern society with its contradictions and its dead ends.
