Workshop Presenters: Guillermina Castellanos and Bill Shields
This workshop will be a lecture demonstration by domestic workers from the San Francisco advocacy group La Colectiva de Mujeres/the Women’s Collective, performing as part of the Work Tales project of Labor and Community Studies of City College of San Francisco.
The goal will be to inspire, educate and motivate with stories of immigrant Latina domestic workers and their fight for justice. We will also demonstrate how to create worker oral history theater projects with audio-visual presentation.
Guillermina Castellanos is the long-time lead organizer of La Colectiva and a nationally known domestic workers’ rights advocate. She uses the Work Tales collaboration as part of a rank-and-file women leaders training program.
Bill Shields is the director of the Work Tales oral history theater project based at City College of San Francisco, where he is the Chair Emeritus of Labor and Community Studies.
